More and more people want to build their own website, which usually means using a self-service website builder. But if the site is to be genuinely attractive, the builder has to be chosen with care. Five points are worth checking.
1. The technical strength of the team. This is the first thing to consider. Only a capable team can keep the system running well and let you produce a high-quality site. Before you commit, investigate the platform’s technical level, its reputation in the industry and how much experience it has.
2. Display across desktop, WeChat and mobile. Compatibility matters a great deal. The site you produce must display correctly on every device and browser, without distortion or breakage, or visitors will leave immediately. When choosing a platform, look at its case studies and how those sites render across PC, WeChat, mobile and tablet.
3. The design quality of the templates. Templates are plentiful, but many are crude, have no design sense and are low in quality. If the templates are not well designed it is very hard to produce a good site, let alone attract visitors. This is a common failing of domestic website systems.
Some platforms, though, ship templates with real design quality and strong visual appeal, covering retail, education, design, dining, travel, startups and personal blogs. Whether you are building a corporate site or a personal one, the results can be genuinely good.
4. Whether faults are fixed promptly. A competent team fixes bugs quickly, refines the product based on customer feedback, keeps adding features, listens to users and provides online support that answers questions quickly.
5. Security protection. A finished site still needs to be protected, so it needs HTTPS, short for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure. It is the secure version of HTTP, a channel built around safety. HTTPS increases trust in the site, protects data, resists attacks and also improves SEO indexing and ranking.
In short, choosing a website builder comes down to these points. We hope this method is useful to you.
