The usual objection to SEO is that results take too long. Everyone accepts that ranking well lifts a site’s authority and brings qualified traffic; what people lose patience with is that it takes months rather than weeks. Set against that, SEO is still work worth doing.
1. It lifts the site as a whole
Optimising inner pages lifts the site: where several strong pages exist, the domain’s overall authority rises with them. Strictly speaking every detail optimised contributes something, which is why the work is best done as a whole rather than page by page — steadily, and without expecting a jump.
2. It costs less
SEO costs a fraction of paid search. If budget were unlimited and only the ranking mattered, buying ads would be simpler — but a year of SEO costs about what one or two months of bidding would consume.
3. The traffic is qualified
Advertising is pushed at people who may not want it, and a misplaced click costs money while dragging the conversion rate down. Search traffic arrives because somebody typed the query, which means intent is already there and the conversion rate is higher.
4. It compounds
SEO is slow work by nature: it needs attention, fresh content, and pages that answer what customers are asking. That routine is what keeps the site current, and being current is what keeps the edge.
5. Rankings hold
Done properly, a keyword that has held its position for more than a week tends to stay — absent an algorithm change, or a competitor outranking you. Paid placement stops the day the budget does.

One honest caveat: SEO cannot fix a site with nothing to say. It amplifies content worth ranking; it does not manufacture it.
