Mini programs have become standard equipment for marketing, and for a business that means one more place a product can be sold. When the format launched, plenty of people were sceptical; now most companies want one of their own. But clients who already run an official account ask the obvious question: is a mini program still necessary? They are two different products.
What each one actually is
In the early days an official account was how a company pushed information outward — a publishing platform, in plain terms. A mini program opens quickly, and users routinely describe it as close to a native app. That speed is part of why so many companies are building one now — and it is also why an account and a mini program tend to be run side by side rather than one replacing the other.
