Merchants have taken to WeChat mini program malls because the platform’s traffic pool is enormous, and a good number of them are getting real results from it. So what does a company actually need to have ready before development begins?
Three things — and it is worth gathering all of them before the first meeting rather than during it.
1. The account and the verification materials
First, register a mini program account on the WeChat public platform. Because a mall handles transactions, payment has to be enabled, and that requires entity verification at 300 RMB a year. Have the paperwork ready before you start: the legal representative’s ID, the business licence, the company’s corporate bank account, a contact number, and the verification letter printed and stamped. Missing any one of these is the usual reason a project sits idle for a week.
2. The content
The assets the build will consume: the company logo, banner images, product photographs, product video, and the written descriptions of each item. Gather more than you think you need. A mall with thin product content looks empty no matter how well it is built, and stock imagery does not fix that — customers can tell.
3. The build route
With the account and the assets in hand, the remaining decision is who builds it and how. Several types of mini program mall template are available, each with a management back end that lets you assemble the store yourself; and there are companies that build to order, which is the route to take when the mall has to match a process that is not the standard one.
XZS Tech builds custom mini programs. If you want to talk through which route suits your category before committing to either, we are glad to.
