JDK 8u202 is the final Oracle JDK release that can be used commercially at no cost. Anything later, in a production environment, needs a commercial licence.
Releases from 16 April 2019 onward changed the Oracle Java licence. The new terms allow free use for personal and development purposes, and Oracle publishes current OpenJDK builds under the GPL at jdk.java.net.
The last release before that date was JDK 8u202, published on 15 January 2019. JDK 8u211 came out on 16 April 2019, and later Java 8 releases followed: JDK 8u212, JDK 8u221 and JDK 8u231.
The part worth underlining: what is charged for is continued use, by a business, of Java 8 updates published after January 2019. That requires a paid commercial licence from Oracle, because from January 2019 onward Oracle’s public updates for Java 8 are not offered for business, commercial or production use without one.
The official notice is on java.com, under the release notice page. If your build still runs Java 8 in production, the version and the licence are worth checking before the next audit rather than after it.
