At the Global Industrial Blockchain Summit, Ant Group and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology jointly launched an international standard for blockchain all-in-one machines, setting specifications for hardware and software technology, architecture layers and security requirements, a move that will promote the development of China’s blockchain technology. On 25 October, CNMO learned that China’s blockchain patent applications rank first in the world, with 33,000 related patents.

Data show that Chinese companies including Ant Group (7,000 patents), Ping An Group (4,000 patents) and Tencent (2,000 patents) have been developing blockchain technology vigorously in recent years. Leading Chinese companies’ blockchain patents are being laid out globally, and in quality these patents are on a par with those of European and American countries. Blockchain was first proposed in 2008 and has now developed for about thirteen years; China’s research into underlying blockchain technology and application development has improved rapidly, especially after 2015, when the underlying technology patents of major companies began explosive growth.

CNMO believes that in the internet world of the future, blockchain technology will be ground that every contender must fight for, and Chinese companies that want to lead the world in blockchain still have a long way to go.
