A good corporate website must keep its presentation consistent through the build, and carry that consistency across the entire site. Style, colour, structural layout and fonts are the aspects to work through; here is a closer look.
1. Fix the site’s overall design style and structure. The structure must guarantee the site’s consistency, and the overall structure is a means of unifying the site’s style. It covers not just the design but the layout, text typography, image placement, text ordering and site navigation. Holding a steady overall structure lifts the whole site to a higher level.
2. Then there is the site’s colour. A well-matched colour scheme gives users a coherent visual experience, helping them easily remember the site’s style and design, building the corporate image and strengthening brand promotion.
3. The site’s navigation bar should stay consistent too. Nearly all sites now guarantee this: the main navigation does not change as pages change. Whichever page users visit, they can reach where they want through the nav bar, instead of getting lost in the site, failing to find the content they came for and leaving in frustration.
There is in fact much more consistency involved. Beyond the above, the site’s background colour, background images or motion effects, plus the choice and layout of pictures and other site elements, should stay unified as well.
