1. When do you need to integrate third-party interfaces?
In a business system, some modules take a very long time to build, while the market already offers mature solutions; you can simply hand that business to a third-party interface. For example, when customising an e-commerce system, you generally need to connect payment, SMS and logistics interfaces for user convenience. Or applications built on a certain platform need most of that platform’s interfaces, such as developing a WeChat mini program or a Douyin mini program.
2. Choosing a suitable third-party interface
Choose from these points. First, interface fees: most third-party interfaces charge, and knowing the fee model in advance saves money. Most interfaces today charge in these ways: per call, paying once per use; per user, paying once per user with repeat use free; periodic settlement, paying on schedule once the service is bought, used or not; or package pricing, paying for a package that bundles a set number of interface calls. Second, clarify how well the interface’s services fit your current business, whether it supports secondary development, and how stable the interface is.
3. What preparation must the client make?
First, after registering the account on the third-party platform and buying the service, provide the parameters needed to call the interface, such as the APPID and secret required for WeChat mini program development.
Second, configure the templates, development modes and other information the third-party interface provides; for an SMS interface, that means configuring the SMS templates and signatures.
Third, if the client’s staff cannot manage the two steps above and supply valid information to the developers, provide the information the whole process requires, such as phone numbers, SMS verification codes, identity information, company information and the unified social credit code, and let the developer complete the operations.
