Looking for a mini program developer does not mean looking locally. Plenty of companies take custom work from anywhere in the country, and geography is a weak proxy for quality.
What matters is capability, and there are four things worth checking.
1. Track record
Look at what the company has actually shipped, not what it says it can do. Past projects show both the level of engineering and the design sensibility, and whether either suits what you are commissioning.
This is the strongest of the four signals, because it is the hardest to fake and the least dependent on the sales conversation.
2. Awards and recognition
A capable company tends to have collected recognition along the way, and it is a reasonable secondary indicator. Treat it as corroboration rather than proof: awards correlate with capability without guaranteeing it, and a company can be good without having entered anything.
3. Visibility in the market
A company that is well known in its market usually has both capability and service behind the reputation. The caveat is the same: reputation is a proxy. It tells you the company has satisfied clients, not that it will satisfy you on this project.
4. A quote that makes sense
Ask what the price is built from. A quote that can be explained function by function is a sign the requirement was understood; a figure with nothing behind it is not. Refuse the ones that cannot account for themselves.
And the question that outranks all of these: can they build what you actually need? A company can be old, decorated and well known, and still not have the specific experience your product requires.
What is being bought
Mini programs are a crowded category, and businesses are moving into it to capture the traffic. What keeps a customer is a product that works, and a product that works is the outcome of a partner who understood the requirement.
That is what the four checks are for. None of them is decisive alone, and together they give a reasonably clear reading before any money changes hands.
