How Long Does It Take to Build a Mini Program?

Mini programs keep growing in popularity, and more companies and merchants want one of their own. In the first conversation, the question that comes up almost every time is how long development takes. There is no single answer: it depends on the requirements, the type of program and the functions involved. A few examples show the range.

Showcase mini programs: under a month

A showcase build usually needs company information and content publishing, nothing more. Fewer functions means a shorter build, and these typically finish within a month.

Healthcare mini programs: one to one and a half months

Healthcare builds generally include a hospital introduction, doctor profiles, appointment booking, payment and report collection. That is a broader set of functions, so the schedule stretches — usually one to one and a half months.

Restaurant mini programs: about a month

Restaurant builds usually cover location, reservations, queueing and number calling, ordering, payment, vouchers and a membership system. The feature count is high, so the schedule is longer than a showcase build — around one month.

Shopping mini programs: about a month

Shopping builds usually include product display, payment, order printing, order lookup, logistics tracking and a cart. Again the function count pushes the timeline out, typically to around a month.

So how long does it take? The figures above are approximations only. Two mini programs of the same type can need very different amounts of work if the requirements differ. It depends on what you are building: a large system runs far longer, while a small program can be finished in a day or two, or a few weeks. Price follows the same logic — and a cheap build nobody uses is not cheap at all.
