As everyone knows, external links are an important part of SEO optimisation: they not only raise a website’s weight but also increase its inclusion, improve its ranking and expand its displays, letting more users visit your site and bringing traffic. To build good external links you must know the standards search engines use to assess them. Here they are.
1. Relevance. Low-relevance links are usually called junk links: the link is posted on platforms unrelated to your own website, contributes nothing and is basically invalid.
2. Growth rate. Like making friends: making 2-3 new friends a day is normal; suddenly making 100 a day is not. External links are the same; too many too fast makes search engines think you are cheating, which harms the site.
3. Quality. Generally, links released on high-weight, well-known platforms are easier to recommend and work better, such as major content platforms, blogs and knowledge bases.
4. Raising weight. For traditional link building, the main point is that the platform’s weight must be high, relying on the platform’s weight to flow back to the target site, so ensure the platform is high-weight and check whether it adds Nofollow.
5. Raising visibility. Anyone doing website marketing should build an image across the web, and external links are a way to achieve online visibility.
6. New-media links. New-media links are hard to use because most add Nofollow tags and bring none of the traditional link’s effect. But you can understand them differently: use their massive user flows to drive traffic back and raise your site’s visits, promoting conversion.
