There are many ways to get a mini program built now, and for an individual or a merchant alike, commissioning a development company is usually the sensible one. It is also less expensive than people assume: a few thousand to the low tens of thousands covers most projects.
So which company? Three things decide it.
1. Does it have a real team behind it
Look at the quality of what the company has actually produced, and look properly rather than at the portfolio page.
A serious company has a technical team, and not a small one: design, front-end, back-end, and the roles around them. Those roles are what a mini program is made of. A company that has to hire in the skills for your project is not a company with a team, it is a broker.
2. Does it offer a plan for operating it
Before mini programs existed, a website was the standard way for a business to advertise online, and the effect was comparable to television or a billboard at a fraction of the cost. That is what drew companies to it.
A mini program has to do more than launch; it has to find a place in the market, which requires a clear operating plan. A company with technical strength but no operating process gives you a product and leaves you to work out what to do with it.
The questions a mini program raises after launch are about content, about which marketing model to use, about how the pages should be arranged to convert. All of that is operational, and a developer that has run these programmes can advise on it. Choose one that can, not one that only builds.
3. Does the product keep being updated
A mini program has to be updated at a reasonable frequency to stay useful, and few teams actually do it. Some ignore updates altogether, which for a product that has just launched is a real disadvantage: it becomes easy for a similar product to overtake it.
Settle the update question before signing. Who updates it, how often, and what happens to the price when the platform changes something.
