A manufacturer selling lighting, sanitaryware or food to retail chains, hotels or distributors can take those orders through an ordering system instead of by phone and email. The retailer browses, selects and submits, and the factory gets a clean order rather than a message to interpret.
The case is easiest to see where the catalogue is complicated. A sanitaryware range has many models and many specifications, and a buyer working from a printed list or a phone call has no practical way to compare them. Give them a mini program or a mall site instead, and they browse the range, check the specifications and place the order themselves.
It works in both directions. Hotels and supermarkets get a buying process they can use without a sales rep on the phone, and the factory gets orders that arrive complete, with the shipping side easier as a result.
What it costs
An ordering system of this kind starts at around 10,000 to 20,000 yuan and up. Where it lands within that range depends on how many functions the platform carries: account structures for different buyer types, tiered pricing, order approval, stock visibility, logistics tracking.
The useful way to think about the budget is by buyer type. One account type and a catalogue with an order form is the low end. Multiple buyer tiers with their own price lists, approval chains and credit terms is the high end, and it is the part that usually justifies the difference.
